Welcome to
SIH Studio
I hope you find the videos below instructive and may the Studio be a place for you to
visit, explore and discover the safe haven within your body.
From a young age I have cherished a studio space as a sanctuary where I can
learn, move, work, and connect.
It’s a space where I’ve explored
dance, taiji, tango, and numerous workshops,
and for many years was home for my creative expression.
May the Studio become a safe haven and constant refuge for your growth and inspiration too.

Morning Flow – Waist Tension Relief
Swings side to side is an important warm up exercise, which in my experience has been the start, after the opening circles, of every Taiji or Qigong class I’ve attended. In this video I demonstrate the swings standing in horse stance – with feet apart, in parallel.
The benefits from regularly doing the Swings include developing a supple waist, to open-up the Belt Meridian, which allows the energy to flow in a more harmonious, and effective manner between the upper and lower portions of the body and the right and left sides of the body. This increases health and wellbeing.
Morning Flow – Boost Your Energy
If you wake up feeling stiff or sluggish, these vertical swings are the perfect remedy, and even more so when combined with video MORNING FLOW: RESET YOUR BODY.
This simple movement helps improve Qi circulation, release stiffness, and activate your natural energy so you can meet the day feeling more grounded, open, and alive.
Perfect first thing in the morning or anytime you need a simple reset for your whole system.
Stiff Hips? The Qigong Secret
Swings side to side is an important warm up exercise, which in my experience has been the start, after the opening circles, of every Taiji or Qigong class I’ve attended. In this video I offer a tip to enhance and deepen your swings practise.
This video offers an exercise to develop the flexibility and movement in your waist, The Belt Meridian.
Instant Calm – Standing Meditation
In this standing stance, you have time to check your posture, and alignment. Allow the body to settle. You may experience a twitch or jerk within your body, but this is simply your body’s way of and correcting and aligning with heaven above and earth below. In Taoism, Tian or “Heaven” is nature, and humanity is a part of nature.
Whilst in standing meditation notice your breathing and how you feel. Simply observe. What is your body experiencing right now? Notice any thoughts, images, or memories that may emerge. Make a note of these when you come out of your meditation.
Increase Flexibility – Gentle Qigong
This exercise is one of my favourites, where we emulate the water dragon, moving slowly, smoothly, with the body twisting and stretching.
The narrative of this practise is to imagine the dragon ‘appearing’ through the body’s movement, as it moves down to the lake, swimming in the water, and then arises up to heaven, dissolving into the cosmic realm above. This is a moving meditation, promoting the circulation of Qi (energy) and blood around the body, and to calm the mind.
Energy Reset – Three Dantian Qigong
This is the second of the twelve practises in the Primordial Qigong set, and has three sections.
This exercise is designed to replenish our body with pure Qi, as we guide the Qi from heaven and earth, from above and below, to each of the Dantian, Imagine the Qi’s path moving through your body nurturing and strengthening the HUN YUAN QI, your primordial Qi. and recharging the Dantian, your reservoir of energy.
Once you have completed the exercise, place your hands on your lower Dantian, and close your eyes or look at the floor in front of you, (do whatever feels right for you). Take a moment to witness your experience in the present moment. What do you notice about your body today?
Activate The Three Dantians
In this, the fourth of the twelve practises in the Primordial Qigong set, we have three parts, opening and closing the three Dantian.
This exercise helps to harmonise Yin Yang, and primes the body to begin moving and directing the qi around the body. Take your complete attention to each of Dantian as the arms open and close. When opening, the Qi moves into the skin and muscles, when closing the Qi moves into the bones. Therefore, by focusing on the Qi expanding and contracting, we increase internal strength.
At the end of the exercise, notice how your body feels.
