Dance is a universal language

…a form of expression through rhythmic movement, often accompanied by music, which is accessible to all regardless of age, culture, or ability. Babies dance within the womb, and we can dance until we die.

Dance enables us to convey emotions—such as sadness, anger, joy, and love—without words. It embraces all feelings as valid and offers a pathway to unconscious insights.

“The happiness experienced while dancing is measurable, and increased levels in happiness
present as long as a week after the last dance“
Professor Peter Lovatt, dance psychologist, author

Within the scientific community, a growing number of researchers have proven that while dancing, an abundance of mood-improving chemicals are released within the body, producing changes in the parts of the brain that regulate stress and anxiety. Increased brain sensitivity for the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine, also relieves feelings of depression. Studies by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute have shown that dancing prevents heart disease in particular.

JOIE DANCE SESSION

Participating in a Joie Dance session, one discovers the ‘dancing path’. Joie Dance offers a space for participants to express themselves without the need to follow specific steps. By abandoning themselves to the rhythm and moving freely as the music and their body takes them, a feeling of joy, lightness, and peace can be experienced.

According to a study conducted by the University of Oxford, dancing alongside other dancers “lights up brain pathways,” which break down the invisible walls your brain builds up between you and another. Establishing these connections helps one experience a sense of oneness and unity.
